Orchid Endowment Fund is founded based on the idea that money donated toward cancer related causes should be helping the ones directly impacted by the disease. The cancer research market surpasses billions of dollars annually, thriving on donations, and there is not enough being done to help the side of cancer which is the real families struggling with unexpected copays, out of pocket expenses for childcare, travel and lodge related to treatment, necessary dietary changes, and so on. This non-profit, run entirely by volunteers, aims to support families through their journeys via grants to cover these hidden costs, allowing single mothers to focus more on their health and families, and less on the financial struggle that follows an unexpected cancer diagnosis.
Anyone whose life has been touched by cancer is likely familiar with the stress caused by the upfront and ongoing hidden costs that come with it. All of these will significantly impact a family’s financial stability over time.
Our purpose is quite simply put. We aim to pay for the entirety of out of pocket cancer related expenses of single parent families so that they can focus on getting the best care available without facing the difficult finance-related questions, uncertainties, and stress caused by the disease.
